Get a Brand-New Crown in Just a Few Hours

If you have had a conventional crown in the past, you will already know it is usually quite a lengthy business, taking two weeks or more to complete. First, your Oshawa dentist must prepare the tooth before taking a tray impression, a step that many people find uncomfortable at best or difficult to tolerate. Next, they fit a temporary crown that you wear while your new restoration is made.
While the temporary crown will look reasonable, it is never as nice as the new crown. Because it is only temporarily bonded in place, it can become dislodged or broken if you eat something too sticky or very hard. Now imagine if your new crown could be ready to fit in just a few hours, and what if you didn’t need a messy tray impression?

How Is This Possible?

Here at Margolian Dentistry, we always invest in the latest and best technologies, providing our patients with a more pleasant experience while providing high-quality and lasting results. With our technologies, you can have a new crown, bridge or veneer in a matter of hours, and you won’t need a tray impression.

If you need a new restoration, our process is quite different. Firstly, we will still need to prepare your tooth, making sure it is completely numb before carefully removing all the damage and infection and shaping it to receive the new crown.
Once the tooth is ready, we digitally scan your tooth. Instead of a goopy tray impression, our digital scanner is a small handheld device that creates a digital impression that is extremely accurate and is comfortable for you. We can view the digital impression on the computer screen while you are still in the chair, allowing us to examine the impression closely and magnify certain areas if needed.

When we are sure the impression is perfect, we use specialized software to design your new dental crown in Whitby digitally. The crown is designed carefully to provide a natural-looking appearance while ensuring it functions properly, so you can bite and chew comfortably. When the design is complete, we send it to our in-office milling machine.

The milling machine creates your new crown from a solid block of pure, pre-shaded porcelain. We select a shade that will blend in naturally with your teeth. Once the crown is milled, we check it carefully, and it is hand-finished.
Our Ajax dentist will try in your new crown, carefully checking it fits correctly and that it looks beautiful. When we are happy with the results, and you are happy with its appearance, we bond the crown in place. The final result is a beautiful, strong crown that is precision fitted.

Advantages of Same-Day Crowns

Using the latest technologies helps us to create better fitting restorations made from the most advanced materials. The porcelain blocks used to create the crown are extremely strong and durable and very hardwearing. The digital impression is more accurate than a conventional tray impression, so your crown fits precisely over the tooth, preventing harmful bacteria from getting inside the tooth where they could cause infection and decay. Because the crown is entirely metal-free, it looks wonderful, closely replicating the translucency found in real teeth.

The ability to receive a brand-new crown, veneer or bridge in just a few hours is incredibly useful. Often, the need for a new restoration arises at the most inconvenient of times, perhaps when you have planned a trip away or have an important work or social event to attend. We use these latest technologies whenever possible and appropriate for our patients.
