Walk into any drugstore and you’ll be confronted with a hoard of toothpastes from different brands making big promises to you – good teeth and gums, bye-bye cavities, lovely breath, no plaque and so on. What do you choose? Which toothpaste is right for you?
Before deciding on which toothpaste to buy, carefully assess your teeth and what you need to focus on. If you have a good set of teeth that you brush and floss regularly, having no cavities or yellowing, pick up a simple paste or gel formula by an established brand. If your teeth are weak and prone to decaying and/or cavities, go in for a toothpaste with fluoride formula. If you have plaque and tartar on your teeth, go in for anti-tartar toothpaste that is marketed as such.
Yellowing teeth would benefit from toothpastes with salt-formulations. If your teeth are sensitive and react to hold or cold substances with aching, you need a toothpaste that has a desensitizing effect. Bad breath is relieved by the use of mouthwash and the choice of toothpaste doesn’t matter much. Other than these, special formulations are available for young children and smokers, and cater to their specific requirements. Choose the toothpaste which meets your needs!
