FAQ | Dental Implants

What is the difference between a bridge and a dental implant? I have heard that a bridge requires grinding down teeth to make it fit?

A bridge requires preparation of the adjacent teeth to fill the gap. Bridges are a great option when the surrounding teeth have large fillings and would benefit from full coverage by crowns as part of the bridge. However, dental implants do not rely on other teeth for their support. They are the closest we can come to giving you your natural teeth back.

Will I need to have one implant placed for each tooth that is missing?

No. In fact,to regain your smile, we often use less implants than the number of teeth lost. However, for single missing spaces, we often will require an implant per area. A free consultation at our office is recommended to discuss your case in person.

How long will it take to complete a typical implant treatment?

Each dental implant treatment case is unique. In general, the time can range anywhere from 3 months to 9months. This depends on the existing quality of the bone in which the implants are to be placed and the number of implants being placed.

I keep using denture adhesives but my denture won’t stay in. What are my options?

You have strong muscles in your mouth, including the tongue, which can make a denture move. We can use dental implants to retain or clip your denture in place in as little as 2 to 3 hours.

I have both a full upper denture and a full lower denture. I have a hard time keeping my lower denture in place. What are my options?

Lower dentures are often most problematic for people. We can use as little as two implants to help clip or retain your denture in place.
